Job Summary: The Head of Global Security is the senior-most safety
and security leader at BioMarin, responsible for executive
influence, risk identification, and the leadership of the Corporate
Security, Business Continuity, Crisis/Incident Management and
Emergency Response, and Supply Chain Security and Global Product
Security, functions for the enterprise. This role involves leading
the protection of BioMarin's critical assets - including people,
facilities, products, operations, data, and reputation. This role
enables the teams at BioMarin to focus on its patient-centered
mission, delivering first-in-class and best-in-class therapeutics
that provide meaningful advances for those with serious and
life-threatening rare genetic diseases. Key Responsibilities:
Create scalable, risk-based, fit-for-purpose global functions that
address safety and security needs across the enterprise Embed
safety and security awareness at BioMarin by creating and enforcing
policies, developing and delivering training and educating the
C-Suite and Board of Directors on critical risks Direct the
creation of global physical security standards, professionalize a
force of contracted protective security officers, and leverage a
team focused on security risk management guidelines and concentric
layers of physical security and technology-based solutions to
identify and mitigate ongoing security exposures Create and guide
teams managing scalable travel security, workplace violence
prevention, executive protection, supply chain security, and
business continuity/operational resilience solutions Lead the team
that develops and implements policies, programs, and protocols to
minimize security risks across the company. Conduct investigations
into security incidents Collaborate with cross-functional teams,
including People, Legal, IT, and Operations, to integrate security
considerations into all aspects of the business. Serve as the
primary liaison with external security providers, law enforcement,
government agencies, and other relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications: 10 years of experience in corporate security, with
expertise in physical, operational, and intelligence-based security
management. Pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry a plus. Strong
executive presence and the ability to influence and educate senior
leadership and the Board of Directors. Demonstrated success in
transitioning and scaling security functions across a global
enterprise. Expertise in developing and implementing security
policies, standards, and training programs. Experience in managing
physical security, travel security, workplace violence prevention,
executive protection, and business continuity/operational
resilience. Experience working in and with law enforcement around
the world and building strong relationships with these and other
government agencies. Proven track record of managing diverse
security teams Experience managing budgets and contracts Skills:
Excellent leadership and team management skills. Strong analytical
and problem-solving abilities. Effective communication and
interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic
