Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics,
Physics, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related
quantitative field.
- 3 years of experience in analytics to solve product or business
problems, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), querying databases, or
statistical analysis, or a PhD degree.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in analytics to solve product or business
problems, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), querying databases, or
statistical analysis, or a PhD.
- 3 years of experience developing and deploying machine learning
and AI models in production settings.
- Experience applying various machine learning techniques
(unsupervised, semi-supervised, supervised) and transforming big
data into actionable insights.
- Experience with security data.
About the Job
The Google Cloud Security Data Science Research team develops innovative, data-driven solutions to cybersecurity challenges. Leveraging data from Google, Mandiant, and VirusTotal, the team offers impactful solutions for customers and the cybersecurity industry.
As a Data Scientist, you will solve cybersecurity problems and protect billions of users by applying machine learning and statistical expertise. You will build models and analytics products deployed to customers, working with large datasets.
You will collaborate with Google and Mandiant experts, develop new capabilities, and work with Engineering to deploy and maintain solutions. The team tackles challenges like threat intelligence scoring, dark web threat detection, and automated security operations with generative AI. We promote sharing insights through academic publications and industry talks.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Salary is role, level, and location-dependent, with individual pay influenced by skills, experience, and education. Your recruiter can provide specific salary details during hiring.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and refine business
or product questions, translating them into analysis, evaluation
metrics, or models.
- Design and evaluate models using custom or existing data
infrastructure to solve defined problems.
- Gather information on business goals, priorities, and data
infrastructure.
- Extract, compile, and validate data across sources using tools
like SQL, R, Python, ensuring data quality for analysis.
