Transplant experience in liver, kidney, and pancreas Description:
Our unit specializes in caring for patients with liver, kidney, and
pancreatic diseases. We care for recipients of liver, kidney, and
pancreas transplants. Additionally, we routinely care for patients
with complex gastrointestinal disorders. We also serve as a
med-surg/tele overflow unit. Required skills include: -
Interpretation of dysrhythmias - Management of dysrhythmias - Use
of Rapid Response/Code teams - Peripheral line care and management
- Nasal cannula and oxygen administration - Non-invasive airway
management - Isolation precautions and personal protective
equipment - Feeding tube care and management The patient population
primarily includes adults. The daily census is approximately 32
patients with 32 beds available. Interdisciplinary support is
provided by physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy,
radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and
transportation. Patient diagnoses include disorders of the
gastrointestinal tract, liver, kidney, and pancreas. Special
procedures include abdominal organ transplants and advanced
